Due to an onslaught of spammers who have found a way around the previous registration method (about 44 new members in three days) and their penchant for posting porn, registration will now require approval. Except for Wednesday and part of Thursday, approval should be within minutes of registering. At the worst, it may take four-five hours, unless someone registers at 2:00 am!

I strongly urge another who uses gmail as their e-mail client to e-mail me if you wish to register (wordwiz@fuse.net) as 90 percent of the spammers use either gmail or mail.ru (a Russian ISP) and I will tend to semi-automatically reject registrations with these addresses.

Another change - registration is turned off for now. I'm tired of dealing with dozens of spammers a day trying to register so they can post links to porn or drug sites.

If you want to join this forum and post your thoughts, you still can, but you have to jump through a couple of small hoops. E-mail me - wordwiz@fuse.net - and let me know the user name you wish to use. You'll get an email message that gives you the password which I hope you will change.

I hate to do this but I'll be damned if I'm going to allow spammers to take over this forum.

Thought I would give it another shot at allowing registration. It will still require approval but that should happen within the same day, much sooner if I am on the computer.

It didn't work. The Viagra and Porn spammers have filled my inbox and I have better things to do than read their message and delete their account.

Back to the old way - if you want to post here, e-mail me and I'll register you. For the record, I will have no more info as to who you may be this way. I'll e-mail you your password and once you log in, you can change it.

This sucks but until a way is found to deal with these freaks, there is nothing else I can do.
